When is the application deadline?
The deadline for application is 10 May 2011. We only accept the application forms that are postmarked on or before that date.
What are the requirements for the continuation of the scholarship?
The student must pass his/her classes, and he/she must have taken no disciplinary punishment that will affect the Ethics mark.
What is the amount of partial scholarship?
This depends on the student, as well as the family's level of need. The scholarships determined by the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV) after the observation camp vary each year.
How will the partial scholarship be determined?
It will be determined by TEV considering the success of the student and the financial conditions of his/her family.
Why is academic excellence expected in Turkish, science, and mathematics?
For us, academic excellence is more important than any other value. Furthermore, the scores and success that we expect are not impossible to achieve. Our students will be challenged within the academic life in this school. This is necessary for their success at our school.
Why are SBS (National High School Entrance Exam) scores taken into consideration?
It is the most common exam taken by middle school students throughout country, so it is a common measuring scale for students. We will be able to see where the student stands in terms of academics.
How much does the school tuition increase each year?
It is decided by TEV, according to national inflation rates and a variety of other factors.
What is the total cost of tuition and other expenses for 2011-2012 education year?
It is not decided yet, but in 2010-2011 this number was 32,000 TL.
What does school payment include?
The fee includes tuition, textbooks, school uniforms, basic stationery materials, and student trip expenses. TEV pays for the boarding expenses, which includes residence and dining.
How is it possible to get full scholarship?
The annual income of the family per member should not be more than 7,800 TL.
EXAM
What do student have to bring when attending the spring exam?
Exam entrance card, ID card, a pencil, and an eraser. (All of this information is available on the exam entrance card)
Are there any resources that we can use to study for the exam?
There is no resource that we can advise. The exam doesn’t measure academic knowledge, but instead focuses on intellectual potential.
What are the criteria used to evaluate the exam? Can we take any information about scoring or criteria?
There are multiple-choice questions on the exam and each correct answer is credited 1 point.
What time do we have to be at the exam center?
The exam will start at 10:00 AM, so you must arrive at the exam center by 9:30 AM the latest.
How will the exam results be announced?
They will be announced on our website. If you have given us an email address, we will send the results to your email address as well.
When will the initial exam results be announced?
It will be announced on May 18th 2011, at the latest. In the case of a delay, it is recommended for the guardians to inform us by a phone call.
Where are the test centers for the second stage of the examination?
The majority will be in Gebze and İstanbul, but depending on the number of students, the test can be given in Adana, Ankara, Trabzon, İzmir, Balıkesir and Bursa, too.
When will the individual interviews take place?
They will take place between May 19th-June 15th 2011. We will announce the results after the interviews are completed. The phone numbers that are given to us should be easy to access in order to be quick in arranging the interview times.
Is this test taking place on the same day as the tests or interviews for other schools?
We will try to ensure that it will not be concurrent with other exams or interviews.
OBSERVATION CAMP
When does the observation camp start?
Sunday, June 26th, 2011.
When does the observation camp end?
Friday, July 1th, 2011.
How are the students chosen for the observation camp?
They are evaluated based on their determination for learning in different disciplines, their curiosity in learning, and their ability to use the information they learn in real life. They will be evaluated in areas like Science, Math, Turkish, Social Sciences, General Culture, the ability to learn new languages, Art, Music, Physical Education. In addition, they will be evaluated based on their capacity for adaptation to a boarding school environment, creativity, communication skills, and the ability to work in a group.
LIFE AFTER TEVITOL
What is your success rate on in the OSS?
Many of our alumni have graduated from or are studying in the best universities of Turkey. You can find a list of the Turkish universities/faculties where our students study elsewhere our website.
What’s your success in overseas?
81 members of our alumni (out of a total of 391 graduates) have completed/are completing their university education abroad with full/significant scholarship. You can find a list of the universities/faculties abroad where our students study elsewhere on our website (the majority have studied/are studying in the United States).
BEING A BOARDING SCHOOL
Do you allow students to leave campus on the weekend?
Students whose houses are nearby (or who have relatives nearby) can leave campus on Friday afternoons and return to school on Sunday.
When are the holidays?
The education year starts in the second week of September. In the first and second term, somewhat different from other schools, we have a one-week holiday after approximately 9-10 weeks of school have been completed. We will announce the exact dates of the 2010-2011 academic year by July at the latest.
Do the students have problems adapting to the TEVITOL environment?
Our youngest students can initially have some problems, but the adaptation process is usually complete after a few weeks at the school. The students get used to the system very quickly. In fact, in most cases, families are more likely to notice that students are over-committed to life at TEVITOL.
Can students bring their computers or mobile phones to the school?
During the academic year, students are allowed to bring cell phones and personal computers, if they choose. However, they cannot use the computers inside the dorms. Computer usage is prohibited after 10 PM, and cell phones are not allowed after 11 PM.
Students may not bring their mobile phones to the observation camp. If someone brings one, he/she will have to give it to the school administration. Parents can call the applicants between 10:00-10:45 PM from the dorm phones. We do not want students to bring any other electronic devices to the camp.
How are your dormitories arranged?
We have three dormitories for girls and three for boys. Each dorm has 8 rooms and there are 4-6 students in each room. Two sets of dorm parents live on the bottom floor of the dormitories.
ACADEMIC LIFE
What is your curriculum like?
Our school follows the national “Anadolu High School” curriculum, and we also offer the International Baccalaureate program for juniors and seniors. Besides the official curriculum, we offer various activities for the students in order to complete our specialized and enriched education program. We also offer optional classes that are appropriate for our students’ profile.
What are the mission and aims of TEVITOL?
Our aim at TEVITOL is to provide a special education program by using the techniques for the education of gifted and multi-talented students, in order to build creative leaders who can articulate their ideas well, demonstrate self-discipline and self-respect, and show an awareness of the importance of international and national values while being able to lead within their society.
What is the IB Program?
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is an international organization of 8,000 schools in over 100 countries, designed for the last two years of high school. The program aims to educate students using an interdisciplinary approach. It also makes it easier for students to study in foreign countries (given the international esteem for the IB), as well as in Turkish foundation universities, such as Sabanci and Koc. The IB Diploma Program is optional for seniors studying at TEVITOL.
What about extracurricular activities?
Students attend various activities and projects in school and at other institutions, such as: Sabancı University, Koç University, Boğaziçi University, Istanbul Technical University, Gebze Institute of High Technology (GYTE), The Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and TUSSIDE.
What is leveled and enriched education?
Students are classified based on their ability level and areas of interest in Science, Mathematics, and English classes.
How is your relationship with the neighboring corporations and education institutes? (For example: Sabanci University (SU), Koc University (KU), Gebze Institute of High Technology (GYTE), The Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBİTAK) and TUSSİDE)
Our students attend activites and events organized by Sabancı University, as well as many other programs with neighboring corporations and educational institutes.

The payment must be made through Yapı Kredi Bank. The first payment will start with the initial registration.
Do you accept transfer students students in the middle of the school year?
No.
GENERAL QUESTIONS
When will the ongoing campus construction be completed?
The ongoing construction of two additional dorms and our Arts Center depends on donations.
Do you keep track of TEVITOL alumni?
Yes. We maintain direct contact with many of our alumni, as well as via several online portals (Facebook, Yahoo Groups, etc.).
How is the is security of school area established?
Multiple security guards are on duty, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Generally, the campus and its surroundings are extremely safe.
What is your school's history?
The school was found in 1993, and it has been under TEV’s supervision since 2001.
How are the teacher-student relationships?
We are a small school, somewhat akin to an extended family. We have an academic environment that depends on mutual love and respect for every member of the community. We are proud of our students and the incredible work they do. Teachers are encouraged to be actively involved in students' lives in the classroom, through after-school activities, and through a variety of community-building events.
How are meals provided at the school?
Our school cafeteria provides three meals a day for students, teachers, and staff. There are also three snack breaks at various times during the day.
